BISHOP DRAINEY
invites us to explore together during Lent this year, the recent Letter from the Pope, 'Caritas in Veritate' i.e. Life in Truth. It is the exploration of the social teaching of the Catholic Church. Our second talk is on Thursday, 4th March at 7 pm in our hall, entitled 'Applying the Message of the Pope's Letter.' Speakers will be the Prior Fr. Colin Battell OSB of Ampleforth and Paul Moore (as he describes himself, "The HBOS Whistleblower") at 7 pm. Thursday, 4th March in our hall.
The third talk takes place at English Martyrs', York, 10am - 1pm Saturday 13 March, which is a Plenary session for the whole diocese, with keynote speaker, John Battle M.P.
SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION 2010
Bishop Drainey will celebrate this with us on Wednesday 9th June at 6pm here at St. Francis. Young people from Year 8 upwards are eligible for this sacrament. Next week there will be a tear-off slip to fill in for those wishing to be confirmed.
A few weeks before the day Mrs. Flood will lead some preparation sessions.
STATIONS OF THE CROSS
11.45am during Lent on Wednesdays. Then Mass followed by a selection of universally achome-made soups in the hall.
PARISH TALENT NIGHT
for young and old; Saturday, 13th March 7.30pm. We are looking for talent in the parish!! Anyone willing to do a slot would be more than welcome—singing, joke-telling, poetry readdancing etc, in fact, ANYTHING. If you are interested please contact Catherine Murray on 599276. Tickets, £5 incl. pie and peas will be on sale after both Masses this weekend.
PALESTINIAN CHRISTIANS
Fr. Paul Maddison of the diocese of East Anglia will give a talk on this subject in the parish hall on Wednesday, 10th March at 7.30 pm . He frequently leads pilgrimages to the Holy Land, and would arrange one for us in 2011, should any of us be interested. I am interested and would be pleased if a few more parishioners would join me. More details will be given on the night.
MIDDLESBROUGH COMMUNITY CHOIR
meets at St. Joseph's school every Tuesevening from 7-8 pm, conductor is Susan Robertson. All are welcome, no experience required. Please ring Peter McTiernan on 821866 if you would like to give it a try

is holding a Lenten event for young people entitled "Get up, do not be afraid". St. Thomas More's church TUESDAY, 2ND MARCH, 7 pm - 8.30 pm.
VOCATIONS TO THE PRIESTHOOD/RELIGIOUS LIFE
Any young person aged 16/30, thinking of joining the priesthood or religious life is invited to a meeting at the Cathedral on Tue. 30 April at 7 pm.
