PALESTINIAN CHRISTIANS
Fr. Paul Maddison of the diocese of East Anglia will give a talk on this subject in the parish hall on Wednesday, 10th March at 7.30 pm . He frequently leads pilgrimages to the Holy Land, and would arrange one for us in 2011, should any of us be interested. I am interested and would be pleased if a few more parishioners could join me. More details will be given on the night.
PARISH TALENT NIGHT
for young and old; Saturday, 13th March 7.30pm. We are looking for talent in the parish!! Anyone willing to do a slot would be more than welcome—singing, joke-telling, poetry reading, dancing etc, in fact, ANYTHING. If you are interested please contact Catherine Murray on 599276. Tickets, £5 incl. pie and peas will be on sale after both Masses this weekend.
SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION 2010
Bishop Drainey will celebrate this with us on Wednesday 9th June at 6pm here at St. Francis. Young people from Year 8 upwards are eligible for this sacrament. Today, a tear-off slip is on the back of the newsletter - or an email application is at the end of this web page - for those who wish to be confirmed. A few weeks before the day Mrs. Flood will lead some preparation sessions.

Parents wishing to have their child baptised should complete and return a Baptism Enquiry form, available from Fr. Keeling. Next Baptism Preparation Class Thursday 25th March 7pm in priest's house.
BISHOP DRAINEY
invites us to explore together during Lent this year, the recent Letter from the Pope, 'Caritas in Veritate' i.e. Love in Truth. The third meeting is for the whole diocese at English Martyrs, York, Sat.13th March 10am - 1 pm . John Battle M.P. is the keynote speaker. Lunch provided.
ARCHBISHOP OSCAR ROMERO SERVICE
He was shot dead by government militia whilst celebrating Mass in El Salvador in March 1980 - for this thirtieth anniversary of his martyrdom there is a service in York Minster on Sat. 20th March at 11 am, presided over by Cardinal Keith O'Brien of Edinburgh. The preacher is Archbishop of York John Sentamu and Bishop Drainey is also taking part. This service is open to everyone.
UCM RETREAT
this will be led by Father John Paul Leonard on Sun21st March 2010 in the Holy Name of Mary church at 2 pm. Mass will be celebrated at 4 pm followed by refreshments in the parish hall. All welcome. A donation of £2 would be greatly appreciated.
MIDDLESBROUGH COMMUNITY CHOIR
